FAQs

Common questions about our services, approach, and what to expect at Surf to Summit.

What makes Surf to Summit different from a regular chiropractor?

Dr. Chuma combines sports chiropractic with evidence-based rehab and a CSCS-level understanding of athletic performance. Every session is one-on-one, and every care plan is built around getting you back to training, not just reducing pain in the short term. Many patients have already tried traditional chiro or PT before coming to us, and the integrated, root-cause approach is often what makes the difference.

Do I have to be a serious athlete to work with you?

Not at all. We work with active adults of all levels, from marathon runners and competitive lifters to people who hike on weekends and want to keep doing it well into their later years. If being active matters to your quality of life, the approach here is built for you.

Do you accept insurance?

Surf to Summit is a cash-based clinic and does not bill insurance directly. We accept payment in full or installment plans, and we accept HSA and FSA. We can provide a superbill if you'd like to pursue out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance plan, but we recommend checking with your provider on likelihood of reimbursement before assuming it.

Can I keep training while I'm working with you?

In many cases, yes. The goal is to keep you as active as possible throughout your care. Dr. Chuma will work with you to modify your training where needed, not eliminate it and as your program progresses, the aim is to get you back to training at full capacity with less risk of re-injury.

Do you offer virtual or remote care?

Yes. Surf to Summit offers hybrid and fully virtual care options for patients who prefer remote support or live outside the South Shore area. Virtual care includes check-in calls, messaging, and progress tracking through a dedicated rehab platform, the same level of support and structure you'd get in person, delivered wherever you are.
